Sunday 5.8.11 – Visting Family

Today my mother and I got to meet some cousins on my maternal grandfather’s side of  the family while in Vienna.  This was very exciting for me as I have only recently gotten to meet any relatives from that section of my tree.  In the morning they picked us up at our hotel and we headed to the Jewish cemetery to look for ancestors headstones and as in Muiderburg I had no luck.  As we were walking out I did see a headstone that was connected to an in-law branch of my tree so I took a picture and sent it to the people it belonged to.  Anyway after that we had a big family lunch at my cousins house in honor of his son’s birthday.  It was a great meal and even greater time getting to know his family.  After we were done we discussed what he had discovered in his research of the family tree.  He gave me a few new pieces of information as well as ways to go about getting more than what he had.  We then took a walk to Schoenbrunn, the Hapsburg’s summer home, which is a few blocks away.  I did try to make tentative plans with Paul and Lena to go to a karaoke bar.  After that we headed back to the hotel.
