Monday 5.9.2011 – The Twin Cities of Buda and Pest

Today we went to the City of Budapest, the capital of Hungary.  I am not a big fan of eastern European history and today I found I am not a big fan of eastern European cities either.  The area around the train station did not feel very tourist friendly.  Plus apparently fewer people speak English the further east we go which made getting directions harder.  Anyway we decided that since we were only spending a day in Budapest we would do a Hop On-Hop Off and a guided tour of the Jewish section.  On the bus tour we got a history of the city and some nice pictures around the city.  We then went on out Jewish section tour.  There we learned about the history of the Jews in Budapest and saw some old synagogues.  Probably the best thing about today was our tour guide was cute.
