#FamilyTree365 – Day 24 September 24, 2016

Israel Levie Wijnberg, my fifth great grandfather, was born in Weilersbach, Germany around 1720.  He was married to Sibilla Philip from Mikenen, Germany.  At this time I don’t know if they met in Germany or in the Netherlands.  What I do know is that by the time their children were born they were already in the town of Woensel/Eindhoven.  In 1790 he received citizenship in the city of Eindhoven. This indicates that up to that point they were not permitted to live within the city limits and had live in neighboring villages such as Woensel, which is now part of Eindhoven.  On November 7, 1811 he has his brother Salomon took the surname Wijnberg.  This was due to the Napoleonic decree that everyone in his empire must have surnames.  He passed away on February 6, 1819 at the age of 99 according to his death certificate.
